Since its establishment in 2015, Valli Art Gallery has gained critical recognition as a pioneer and leader in Contemporary Italian art in Miami. Set in the Wynwood arts district, Valli Art Gallery still stands as Miami’s only gallery focused on Italian masters. After excellent reception in Miami, Valli Art Gallery expanded to New York City in 2018 within the new and highly anticipated Highline Nine Galleries development in Chelsea. Valli Art Gallery’s second location plants a unique collection of Italian art within the heart of the New York City gallery scene.
The gallery was founded by Franco Valli, who is an Italian immigrant with a goal to promote an intellectual and historical understanding of Italian art in America. With decades of experience in the Italian arts and with a carefully curated roster, Franco is making his mark on the contemporary art world by promoting Italian Masters in the American market. Franco works closely with the gallery’s artists and their families, which allows him to truly understand and communicate the meaning of their art.
Valli Art Gallery showcases works by Italy’s most significant postwar and contemporary masters, including Carlo Battaglia, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Pino Pinelli, Achille Perilli, Alberto Biasi, Mimmo Rotella, Paolo Scirpa, Agostino Bonalumi, Chiara Dynys, Cesare Berlingeri, and Giosetta Fioroni. At Valli Art Gallery, contemporary Italian masters are seen as crucial artistic and intellectual figures within the larger, global history of art.
Valli Art Gallery also represents Spain-native Javier Martin, a multidisciplinary artist who bases his creative exploration on the careful observation of his surroundings, detecting semiotic relationships that might otherwise pass by unnoticed to an unperceptive viewer and inviting reflection on impending matters in today’s world. Most recently, these themes have taken form in his Blindness Collection.
True to the core principles that Franco Valli laid out when he started the gallery, Valli Art Gallery is dedicated to building a more complex and lasting understanding of Italian art and culture in the United States. Valli Art Gallery works closely with universities, Italian cultural institutions, and top curators to promote the larger mission of the gallery. The gallery is honored to work with scholars like Robert C. Morgan and Marco Meneguzzo to produce exhibitions that contribute to the gallery’s goals. Valli Art Gallery plans to continue efforts to maintain a social role in the cities of both Miami and New York, as well as to preserve a place as an important reference of Italian Art in the United States for many years to come.
